It seemed in the evening we always ended up here watching the street performers. Nothing much to do but sit round the fountain and just chat and soak up the atmosphere. Little guys bring you cold beer/drinks whenever you like, don't be afraid of them - very handy indeed.JillSpain

Does it really matter if this hostel has a quite nice common area with a big tv? Does it matter if the rooms were fairly clean and the pods had a hook to dry towels? The hotel was very clean and well organised even when the rooms are pretty small. The reception is great, the guys helped us with every our request, such as providing electric kettle in the room, extra pillows or safe deposit key. We had the inner courtyard view and it was pretty calm for sleeping in the night.

The neighborhood has so many great restaurants and shops, including the highest rated pastry shop in Madrid. Super close to the Metro but you can also walk to Puerta del Sol in about a half an hour. The older lady who owns / manage the place is very nice & accommodating. I only stayed for one night after a tour. I'm familiar with Barrios de las Letras so I managed to get around. It's walking distance to Prado as well as Puerta del Sol. Location wise you cannot beat the price as long as you're only interested in a safe place to sleep after a day of sight seeing.

It was so easy to explore Madrid and to make connections for day trips to neighboring towns. I found the bed to be quite comfortable, the bathroom was large and modern, and the kitchen was well stocked. Also, even though the building is right on Puerta del Sol, my apartment was in the back and completely quiet. The host was very responsive to a couple of questions I had during my stay and in advance of my trip. I would stay here again!
