Neat tidy small city, but hilly.
Neat tidy small city, but hilly. Mainly cobbled pedestrian streets which are easy to get around. Shopping very expensive and in virtually cash free. Use a card for everything - preferably pre-loaded with Krone.
Some great museums and these are very good value. Other attractions are, like the shopping, are very costly and probably designed to extract the maximum amount from the tourists. This is very noticeable when the obscenely large cruse ships arrive and disgorge thousands of passengers,
Plenty of restaurants and bars, but don't go looking for Norwegian food.
You can have your pick of Chinese, Thai, Indian etc... and try not to be too shocked by the prices.
We really liked Stavanger and would happily recommend it, but remember that Norway is an expensive country, so be prepared to budget for it.

Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back.
Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back. We came to hike the pulpit. Absolutely beautiful and sunny. I recommend starting early.
We started at 8 am with not too many people.
A different story when we were coming back down. Stavanger and the The Pulpit or Preikestolen was absolutely wort a visit. The Norwegian engineering of the tunnels are amazing. 4 bars on my cell the whole way through the tunnels below the water.

If you have extra time after beautiful Bergen and scenic Flam/Naeroyfjord cruise (not to be missed), Stavanger is charming for two nights (took express bus from Bergen -- easy and convenient downtown to downtown). In Stavanger, I took the Rodne cruise-only under Pulpit Rock (very enjoyable) along Lysefjord because I cannot hike up Pulpit Rock. In Stavanger, I also visited Gamle Stavanger (quaint), the Printing, Canning and Maritime Museums (all small but excellent), as well as the informative Petroleum Museum (near Hotel Victoria). I was able to take the Flybussen airport bus upon my departure and the Stavanger airport is convenient.

A quiet place to stay with nice friendly staff.
A quiet place to stay with nice friendly staff. Facilities (kitchen & bath room ) need to be updated. Location is not so easy to access by walking from city center or bus station with a luggage because it is an uphill walking for several blocks.

I enjoyed being close to the Mosvatnet to do the special extra Norway Labour Day parkrun. It is about 15 minutes walk to get to the Mosvatnet to the start and finish of the Stavanger parkrun. The hotel is about half an hour's walk from the city center. If being closer to the city center is more priority I would recommend a hotel in the city center. It is a pretty port with an old town. A few museums to go into if it is raining. There is also bus top tours to do which I enjoyed and would recommend as you get a good overview of the city and learn some history at the same time.
Lovely hotel in the cobblestoned heart of Stavanger. We stayed one night after a hiking trip around the Lysefjord. The room, while small, was very comfortable with a great shower and nice, fluffy bed. Staff were helpful at check-in helping us sort out the best way to the airport for an early morning flight.
Because it was a short stay and we left early in the morning, we didn't really use any other facilities and we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but we were super comfortable and our room was very clean. A very nice stay.
Excellent hotel located very conveniently just outside the city centre. Wonderful breakfast, you must try the breakfast plate, it will give you all you need for a great start of the day! Breakfast location is also simply perfect, you can seat at tables with a variety of shapes and seatings, surrounded by gorgeous smells coming from the bakery!! Room is fairly basic, but very clean and practical. Bus stop at the doorstep with excellent links to city centre, university, train station and other points of interest, I assume.
Very clean, comfortable and friendly hotel - we stayed 2 nights on our way out to a hiking trip in the Lysefjord. Many reviews mention the breakfast and rightly so; it was one of the most impressive breakfast spreads we've seen and was absolutely delicious including beautiful cappuccinos. Beds were very comfortable. Location is very central for walking around the heart of Stavanger (and for running our pre-hike grocery errands etc.) Norway is famously expensive, but in local context this hotel was good value.
I would like to give a compliment to Mr. Daniel. He gave me and my family such a very warm welcome and beautiful smile.
He also recommend tourist attraction and some good restaurant to us.
And what I like about the hotel is the location, we took a bus from Stavanger airport and the bus stop is not far from the hotel. The breakfast is with a variety of choice, the test is also good. The room temperature was very stable and keep you not too warm from the cold temperature outside.
The location is very close to the bus from the airport and also very close to pulpit rock bus (only to pulpit rock).
The staff was extremely helpful and responded to all my question about stavanger.
Although i did not end up staying at the hotel they were extremely understanding and refunded my money without any problems.
They were extremely responsive and easy to deal with.
Note that if you are arriving between 23 and 7 you will need to phone the staff to check in.
The location was more than perfect at the center of the city. I had the impression that the owner of the apartment does everything to make guests feel comfortable during the stay. Each apartment has a laundry machine. This was really appreciated by me and by many travelers who will arrive in Stavanger after visiting other cities of Norway.
Honestly a perfect hotel. Incredible location, super clean, COMFY beds!! Probably the best breakfast spread I’ve had. Great restaurant attached to hotel. Staff was so pleasant. I booked through booking.com and when I went to check in they couldn’t find my reservation. They were very nice about it and rebooked me.
We were on our honeymoon and this was our favourite hotel from our tour of Norway. the property is beautiful, the room was comfortable, the staff were welcoming and friendly. Had I known how much I would love this hotel and town I would have changed the itinerary to spend more time here.
Super convenient to downtown Stavanger- short walk to the harbor and downtown. Quick grocery next door. Only downside was expensive parking but that's downtown I guess. Breakfast was a little disappointing compared to other Comfort Hotels I stayed at but still decent.
Great central location near station, harbour and city centre. Good hotel with nice staff, was able to check-in at kl. 11:00, so 5 hours early. Good quality breakfast. Very nice bed and shower, with also a fridge and kettle in the room.
The hotel is in a great location just a few minutes from the city centre and the airport bus stops right outside. There is lots of public space for meetings/working. Room was comfortable and fairly spacious.
The perfect location in the center of the Stavanger. Close to the many restaurants. Very clean, plenty of living space, comfortable beds. Marina was super helpful and proactive. Washing machine is a plus.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional and one of the best we've experienced in a hotel. The light supper was also excellent
Good, straightforward, and clean but pretty standard for a hotel in Norway.
Breakfast was included and quite OK, but it was really crowded on opening due to a large party leaving early.
Great location (city centre and adjacent to bus stops and train station) , clean hotel and a really good breakfast buffet. Also, it has a characterful tavern attached,
Nice place to stay. Everything was correct and cleansed. The instructions were correct. Beds were.so comfy the best from my travel to Norway. No complains
