The stay in Ibrahim’s house boat was an experience we will never forget. From the beginning on it was very convenient to stay in contact with Ibrahim and plan every step of our journey. Once we arrived we took a little boat to the floating house and were blessed with a stunning view of the Dal lake and the mountains in the background. Ibrahim and his family welcomed us very friendly. We didn’t have to worry about anything. Boat trips, money exchange, included breakfast or home cooked dinner in kashmiri style, everything was taken care of. In the evening Ibrahim told us the history of Kashmir and its people. An arranged boat took us to floating markets giving us the opportunity to see and purchase amazing handmade crafting. Ibrahims care was more than we could hope for. All in all it was a trip and experience we will never forget. Many thanks to Ibrahim and his family.

De Houseboat is prachtig, zelfs als je met een groep bent kan de eigenaar Suhail voor je regelen dat je op meerdere houseboats naast elkaar kan verblijven. Showkat de gastheer is eigenlijk meer een butler, hij helpt je echt met alles wat je maar nodig hebt en is 24 uur per dag voor je beschikbaar. Hij zorgt ervoor dat je verblijf echt naar een next level wordt getild. Ik zou ook zeker aanraden om ook te dineren op de houseboat, het eten dat is echt fantastisch en veel beter dan de restaurants in de omgeving.

Food is exceptional (Sajadh the chef ), Shikara ride every day is wonderful experience ( Firoz the rider also wonderful singer). Owner ( Sheik ji) of boat house who is very caring and has very good connections to make the whole kashmir trip go very smooth. Central heated is one very good option and makes the stay most comfortable even in winter.

I had a wonderful stay at Tashkand houseboat during winter season in January 2023. Musa, the houseboat owner, is very helpful and provide very good service. Dinner at Tashkand was our best dining in Kashmir as it's fresh meat, homemade, and no MSG. If you stay here I recommend trying 1 dining at his place. The place is clean and tidy. There's towels and amenities provided. There s no heater in the bedroom but it's replaced with warmed electric blanket which works very well to keep you warm at night, especially in winter. There are free shikara ride across to main road if you paid for shikara ride trip the first or second day. It's a special deal that the houseboat made with shikara riders so you will get the best deal and save money if you get shikara trip. It was the memorable, affordable house boat price. The houseboat is located in a quiet park of the lake overlooking the lotus ponds. It's spectacularly beautiful and hidden from the Lakeshore which is a madhouse. Boat rides to and from the houseboat are free. Host Tariq is well versed in dealing with foreign guests and is very helpful with arranging stuff. I understand he does excursions beyond srinagar and treks as well but unf there was no time for that. Location wise, I observed that up to about ghat 10 the houseboats are super near the Lakeshore. So, depending on whether you want convenience or privacy you can plan accordingly.
